my ‘flight of the elephants’ tattoo. the original design is by terry fan. last summer and last semester were both really shitty; i constantly felt like i was struggling, or completely inadequate. i needed something uplifting and came across like lovely, peaceful, quirky design. for me, the meaning behind it is that no burden is too heavy and, as my roommate said, nothing is impossible. i love how it came out and can’t wait for my next one!!
done by george at stingray tattoos in allston, ma. it took 2 and a half hours and george (along with my roomies and boyfriend) kept me entertained for all of it! i would highly recommend the place :)

Mahout Bathing and Elephant, India
Photograph by Mohit Midha
Watching a mahout lovingly bathe his elephant, I tried capturing the moment from the riverside but wasn’t satisfied with what I saw through the viewfinder.  There was something lacking that made the image not do justice to the scene.  I then climbed a tree with a branch extending out over the water and got my shot, which may have been my last as I almost fell off after taking it.  I’m sure the beautiful elephant would not have been very happy about me falling out of a tree straight onto her stomach!
